Project 1
Infographic Poster

For the first project, we were to take an infographic from the internet and improve upon it.

Fig 2.1, Original Infographic

This was the infographic I chose to improve. It is supposed to be a diagram of the digital world from the Digimon series and show the different layers of the digital world.

Fig 2.2, Concept Sketches

These were my initial concepts for the improved infographic, wanting to implement more interesting graphics to better present the different layers of the digital world.

I decided to go with the sketch on the right but after not progressing for a while and consulting with Mr. Fauzi, he told me to just take an infographic from Pinterest and use it as a template.

Using this, I made a blank template with the big shapes from the infographic.

I then inserted the information and added related images to the infographic.

Project 2
Minimal Animated Infographic

For Project 2, we were tasked with taking the infographic poster from project 1 and animating it minimally.

I began by minimalising the information on the original infographic.

Fig 3.1, Simplified Infographic

I imported the layers into After Effects and started animating the infographic. I decided to enlarge each panel in the order of the layers of the digital world, in this case, clockwise starting from Surface web to Digital World.

REFLECTIONS

These project were fun to do since I was able to choose a topic of my interest but because I took too long I had to rely on a template to finish the assignment. This importing process from Illustrator to After Effects as quite tedious as well. Before importing, the layers in Illustrator were quite messy so I had to arrange them better so that I had an easier time importing it into After Effects. I was also quite late in submitting the assignment which I should look to rectify going forward.
