REFLECTIONS
Experience
This was my second semester, first year at Taylor's. Learning typography was an experience for me. Pretty good at times, pretty sucky at times. Meeting deadlines was already a challenge for me before but this semester really put it to the test. Actually receiving feedback from the lecturers in a timely manner really helped though in the process of doing all my assignments and tasks. Mr. Vinod can seem a little rough around the edges at times but he can grow on you if you take his feedback into consideration and send in assignments on time.
Observations
I feel like this subject really put a focus on details as so much goes into making a font which I learned in the latest task. I also found myself becoming better at the applications I was using because I was already spending so much time in them trying to iron out the details in my assignments before handing them in.
Findings
I found that typography isn't all about flair like in other art mediums but it can still invoke certain feelings or emotions if just a single word is arranged or written a certain way. Typography also takes details into a lot of consideration as just because the top stroke of an "s" is a little shorter than the bottom stroke it can make it look balanced, but if it is too short or the same length, it could completely throw off the balance of the letter.
